You will get a new window with a list, click the + sign next to Legacy Components, and uncheck or check Direct Play. Go to Programs - Turn off or deactivate Windows features. Turn on/off Direct Play: Press the Windows key + R. Easiest to find the file you need by browsing local files in the game properties, find the RCT exe file and open it from there. Try running it directly from the installation folder, not through Steam. My system is in a different language than English, so sorry for any translation errors :|
While looking around for a solution for my game, I did read a couple other tips too. Nice! :) I will assume that setting it to any old windows version can do the trick, from Win95 to at least XP. i changed it to run in windowsxp serivces 2 Thank you! I have finally been able to play the game in full screen mode. Openrct2 was not an option, because I don't own RCT2. (typically found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe) I don't have all kinds of resolutions etc, but at least I got fullscreen.
